Premium Private Maritime Memorial Cruise & Sea Scattering Ceremony in Charleston, SC

Boat: Axopar 37 XC, 38 ft, ultra-luxury class Up to 13 guests, private charter (only your group aboard)

A private burial at sea from Charleston aboard a 38-foot Axopar, from the Ashley River out past the harbor jetties to the Atlantic.

From Ashley Point Drive the boat follows the Ashley River into Charleston Harbor, passes Fort Sumter and runs out between the jetties, then 3 nautical miles beyond land. Expect roughly 8 to 10 nautical miles each way. The harbor and rivers are inside waters, so the scattering happens in the ocean. The scattering happens at least 3 nautical miles from land, as the federal EPA burial-at-sea rule requires, and the captain files the EPA report afterward.

South Carolina has no separate scattering permit; the Charleston County Coroner issues the cremation permit that comes with the remains. The captain keeps clear of the shipping channel and Navy restricted areas in the harbor.

You lead the ceremony, or the captain can help guide it: share memories, read a passage or prayer, play a song, then release the ashes together. There is no rush.

Departure time is up to you and the weather. Many families choose late afternoon or near sunset, when the water is often calmer. If anything needs to change after booking, the captain will contact you.

Weather and family plans can change. If you or the captain need to change the date, we first find a new date that works for everyone. If no new date works, you can cancel: when you cancel, the charter is refunded minus the 11.5% booking fee and card processing; when the captain cancels, you receive a full refund.
